What does premature ectopic heartbeat mean?

Ectopic premature heart beats are induced by abnormal beats in parts of the heart other than the sinoatrial node. The normal conduction system is controlled by the sinoatrial node, and every ventricular and atrial beat is transmitted from the sinoatrial node. Premature beats occur when there are other ectopic beats. Premature beats are generally classified as atrial, ventricular, or atrioventricular junctional beats. The onset of ectopic premature beats is mainly episodic, but if there are frequent or continuous episodes of atrial tachycardia or ventricular tachycardia, it is important to pay attention to whether it indicates a poor prognosis or to find out the cause of the patient’s condition and to treat it.
