Differential pulse pressure in elderly patients with hypertension is worth noting

Hypertensive disease is a common disease in the elderly, multi-morbidity, some elderly patients have been suffering from the disease for decades, also often measured blood pressure, but the vast majority of people measuring blood pressure only pay attention to systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while ignoring the pulse pressure. In fact, the pulse pressure is also very important, the incidence of cardiovascular accidents in people with excessive pulse pressure is much higher than those with normal pulse pressure. Especially the elderly hypertensive patients should pay attention to the risk of excessive pulse pressure. Pulse pressure, refers to the systolic pressure (high pressure) minus the diastolic pressure (low pressure) value. Normal adults at rest have a pulse pressure between 30-40 mmHg. clinically found to be too large or too small, can be used as a reference for diagnosing the disease. Pay attention to the size of the pulse pressure, especially important for cardiovascular patients, the incidence of cardiovascular accidents is much higher in those with excessive pulse pressure than in those with normal pulse pressure. When the pulse pressure exceeds 50 mmHg to pay close attention to, clinically greater than 60 mmHg as an indicator of increased pulse pressure.
