Hepatic coma, also known as hepatic encephalopathy, does not have the absolute best treatment, and can currently be treated using general treatment, medication and surgery. 1. General treatment: Encourage patients to eat less and more meals, and reduce the intake of protein food. 2. Medication: There are some differences between individuals, and the following medications are recommended to be used under doctor’s supervision. Lactulose can acidify the intestinal tract and reduce the absorption of ammonia. Microecological agents, including probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics, promote the growth of beneficial bacterial flora in the host’s intestinal tract. Use of branched-chain amino acids to help metabolize ammonia in the body. 3. Surgical treatment: Liver transplantation may be considered in patients with severe disease. Patients with liver failure combined with hepatic encephalopathy can be treated with artificial liver. For patients diagnosed with hepatic encephalopathy, it is recommended to go to the hospital for timely treatment and follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication.
