Wu Mei Pill is not recommended for spleen and kidney yang deficiency.
Wu Mei Pill is composed of Wu Mei, pepper, fine pungent, and yellow dock, etc. It has the effect of easing the liver and harmonizing the middle, clearing the upper and warming the lower, and can be used for treating paroxysmal pain in the epigastrium (abdomen), which starts and stops at times, irritability and vomiting, and coldness of the hands and feet, and can also be used for prolonged diarrhea and dysentery.
In addition to the effect of warming yang and tonifying the deficiency, Wu Mei Wan can also clear heat and dry dampness, and is used in the case of cold and heat dislocation. Therefore, patients with simple spleen and kidney yang deficiency are not recommended to take Wu Mei Pills.
Patients with spleen and kidney yang deficiency should be treated with medicines that warm and tonify the spleen and kidney, such as Si Shen Wan, which can be used for treating wu wei diarrhea (diarrhea before dawn) caused by spleen and kidney yang deficiency, incontinence of diet, or prolonged diarrhea that does not get better, abdominal pain that likes to be warm and lumbar soreness with coldness of limbs.
