Do you have to have an angiogram a year after stenting?

One year after a patient’s stent implantation, the doctor will usually recommend that the patient undergo an imaging test. The decision on which test to take depends on the symptoms. One year after stent implantation, if there are no symptoms such as anterior heart pain, palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc., and if the patient is not willing to undergo invasive coronary artery angiography, he/she can consider not to undergo a review of the angiogram, however, if there are symptoms of cardiac discomfort, then an angiogram has to be performed. Patients need to be routinely reviewed for vessel specifics 1 year after stenting to screen for possible in-stent restenosis, restenosis of the remaining vessels, and other lesions that can further guide the next stage of treatment. It is recommended that patients undergoing stenting undergo regular follow-up as prescribed by the physician.
