The first thing to do is to exclude the possibility of ectopic pregnancy in pregnant women with left lower abdominal pain.
If no gestational sac is seen in the uterus, blood hCG should be checked. If the blood hCG is significantly higher, ectopic pregnancy is very likely.
If ectopic pregnancy is ruled out, the physiological pain that occurs during normal pregnancy is mostly related to the pulling of the round ligaments of the uterus and can mostly be relieved on its own. Pathological pain, on the other hand, is more likely to be unremitting or progressively worse and should be taken seriously and referred to a doctor as soon as possible.
If the pain is regular, persistently worsening or accompanied by vaginal bleeding, preterm abortion should be considered, and other possibilities include ovarian cyst torsion, rupture, intestinal cramps and urinary stones.
