Why do you get knee pain when squatting?

In clinical practice, patients experience knee pain when they get up after squatting. This may occur because the patient has had damage to the meniscus, synovium, fat pad, muscles, ligaments and other tissues in the knee joint. When the patient gets up from a squat, the pressure in the joint suddenly increases, causing injury and irritation to the damaged tissues, resulting in knee pain. If a meniscal injury occurs, the patient will have a positive McSweeney’s sign, interlocking knee joints, and in severe cases, limited knee flexion and extension. Therefore, an MRI of the knee joint should be taken to clarify the diagnosis. Then, the treatment will be based on the specific disease, and the symptomatic treatment will have better clinical results.
