The new coronavirus, called novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), belongs to the beta genus of coronaviruses.

The new coronavirus has five essential genes targeting four structural proteins, namely nucleoprotein (N), viral envelope (E), matrix protein (M), and spiny protein (S), as well as RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp).
The nucleoprotein (N) wraps the RNA genome to form the nucleocapsid and surrounds the viral envelope (E), which is embedded with proteins such as matrix proteins (M) and spiny proteins (S).
