The life expectancy of pituitary tumor after active treatment is usually not significantly different from that of the normal population. A very small number of patients will have their survival time affected by surgical complications and other factors, but there is no authoritative data on how long they can live.
Non-functioning adenomas often do not affect the survival time of patients after surgery. Functioning adenomas usually live like normal people after controlling hormone levels through drug replacement therapy, and there is no clear impact on the life expectancy of patients.
Very few patients need surgery due to huge pituitary tumor, poor effect of conservative treatment, or intolerance of medication, etc. However, serious complications occur after surgery, resulting in postoperative death or serious sequelae, which in turn affect the survival time to varying degrees.
It is recommended that patients who have found pituitary tumors should go to neurosurgery department of the hospital in time, and under the guidance of doctors, they should actively carry out appropriate treatment according to the size and type of pituitary tumors, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
