Fever shivering is a manifestation of chills and hyperthermia. Patients may feel chills and twitching of peripheral muscles before fever, which is a manifestation of chills and evidence of bacterial toxins into the blood. If the cause of the fever is not clear, blood cultures can be drawn during the chills to clarify the diagnosis. Sometimes bacteria are cultured in the blood, which is helpful for the next step of treatment. Chills indicate a generalized muscle contraction, when the body temperature rises quickly, and within half an hour it can rise rapidly to its peak. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5°C it is recommended to give antipyretic treatment by rubbing warm water on the neck, armpits and the area where the large blood vessels travel at the root of the thigh. If the body temperature does not drop, apply the antipyretic drug Ibuprofen or Merlin to reduce fever and drink more warm water.
