Pain in the middle of the two chests may be caused by the following reasons: 1. It may be thoracic costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage between the sternum and the ribs, which is mainly a sterile inflammation, and if the local inflammation is strong there will also be local redness, swelling and heat, usually when deep breathing or thoracic activities, the pain will appear or increase. 2.
