Treatment of stones in 6mm: i. If this stone is located in the kidney, no medication or surgery is needed. Clinical observation is recommended, and drinking more water and exercising more, in most cases it can be excreted by itself. If the stone is located in the upper ureter and causes acute pain, nausea, vomiting and no relief by oral or intramuscular pain medication, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is recommended to rapidly reduce pain and accelerate stone discharge. If the stone is located in the lower ureter and the symptoms are not serious, it is recommended to drink more water and urinate more often to see if it can be expelled from the body by itself. Usually, most of the stones in the lower ureter of 6 mm can be expelled by themselves without any treatment. However, if the long-term obstruction causes pain and a drastic decrease in the quality of life, extracorporeal lithotripsy may be considered. If the stone is located in the bladder and urethra, it can be expelled by itself within 24h without any treatment.
