Normally, the width of the medullary pool of the cerebellum is about 5mm, with a standard deviation of about 3mm. If it exceeds this value, there may be brain tumors, ventriculitis, and cerebral atrophy, which may cause corresponding symptoms.
1. Brain tumor: Enlargement of the medullary pool of the cerebellum may be due to the presence of a brain tumor. Brain tumor may compress brain tissues and appear obstructive hydrocephalus. Long-term presence leads to enlargement of cerebellar medullary pool, and patients may have headache, vomiting and other symptoms.
2. Ventriculitis: If inflammation occurs in the ventricles of the brain, it may cause adhesion and obstruct the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, leading to the enlargement of the medullary pool of the cerebellum, and various discomforts, such as dizziness, headache, high fever, delirium, coma, and even cause cerebral hernia, and so on.
3. Cerebral atrophy: Enlargement of the medullary pool of the cerebellum may be due to the presence of cerebral atrophy. Cerebral atrophy may cause various uncomfortable symptoms, such as hemiplegia, epilepsy, ataxia, tremor, and so on.
If the cerebellar medulla oblongata pool is enlarged in adults, further examination should be done under the guidance of the doctor in time to clarify the cause of the disease and treat it in time so as to avoid delaying the condition.
