Swelling of the upper eyelid of the right eye may take two forms: the first is redness and swelling of the eyelid, accompanied by significant tenderness or pain when blinking. The first form is redness and swelling of the eyelid with a distinct sensation of tenderness or pain when blinking. This is usually a bacterial infection that causes inflammation of the lid gland, which is a whealsore, or a pinhole, and requires anti-inflammatory treatment, usually topical anti-inflammatory drops and oral antibiotics. The second form may be edema of the eyelids, which may be caused by allergies, and can be treated with anti-allergy medications, such as loratadine tablets or olopatadine drops, for local anti-allergy treatment. Usually, the edema or redness will subside within 1-2 weeks after symptomatic treatment.
