Adverse skin reactions to retinoic acid cream usually recover spontaneously after discontinuation of use in about 2 weeks. Since retinoic acid cream is a derivative of vitamin A, its use on the skin, especially when used for common acne, may cause peeling of the face, or dryness and flushing. However, after a period of use, if the medication is discontinued, it may recover automatically, usually in about 2-3 weeks, and the adverse effects will gradually disappear. For most facial acne, including abnormal keratosis pilaris or acne vulgaris, the use of this cream is effective and has a wide range of indications, but the side effect is that it can cause the epidermal stratum corneum to peel off and can also cause local flushing.
