Can vestibular neuritis heal on its own?

Vestibular neuritis may heal on its own. Vestibular neuritis, whose standardized medical name is vestibular neuronitis, refers to a sudden onset of vertigo caused by damage to the vestibular nerve. The cause of the disease is not yet completely clear, but it may be related to viral infections, vascular lesions and other factors. When suffering from vestibular neuronitis, the symptoms in the acute stage will usually be significantly reduced in about 1 to 3 weeks and disappear within a few weeks to half a year, so it is possible to be self-healed. However, it may develop into a chronic condition with recurrent vertigo symptoms that can last for half a year or even more than a few years. Therefore, when a patient is diagnosed with vestibular neuronitis, it is still necessary to take acute symptomatic treatment, etiologic treatment, and vestibular rehabilitation therapy, etc., with the aim of alleviating the symptoms and promoting the restoration and compensation of vestibular function.
