Taking Elavil or Silien in early pregnancy

Folic acid supplementation is recommended in early pregnancy to reduce the probability of fetal neural tube development malformations, and it is possible to choose either of the two drugs, Elavil and Silien, which both contain folic acid. The difference between these two drugs is that each tablet of Elavil contains 0.8g of various vitamins and minerals in addition to folic acid, while each tablet of Slipstream contains 0.4g of mainly folic acid. If there is an obvious deficiency of folic acid, it is recommended to take Elavil, which can replenish various vitamins needed during pregnancy. If the folic acid in the body is normal, taking Silien can also ensure the body’s needs, but overdose of folic acid may affect the absorption of zinc, which may lead to fetal growth retardation and low weight babies. Pregnant women are advised to choose the appropriate medication under the guidance of their doctors.
