What is the cause of the pain in the right ear with hearing loss?

A burst of pain in the right ear with hearing loss may be related to acute secretory otitis media, acute suppurative otitis media, middle ear cancer and other diseases.
1. Acute secretory otitis media: it is mostly caused by upper respiratory tract infections, and can also be produced by head and neck tumors after radiotherapy. Currently, it is believed that dysfunction of the eustachian tube, local infection of the middle ear and metamorphosis are the main causes of otitis media. There may be vague ear pain, which may be persistent or paroxysmal. Hearing loss occurs when the middle ear effusion blocks the ability to transmit sound.
2. Acute suppurative otitis media: after being infected with pneumococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, hemolytic streptococcus, staphylococcus and other pathogens through the Eustachian tube, most patients suffer from severe pain before the tympanic membrane perforation, and pulsating throbbing or stabbing pain can be radiated to the head on the same side or to the teeth, and the pain is alleviated after the tympanic membrane is perforated and pus flows from the perforated ear. At the initial stage, there are obvious ear stuffiness, low-pitched tinnitus and hearing loss.
3. Middle ear cancer: This disease may originate from middle ear, or external auditory canal or auricle, and cancers from parotid gland, nasopharynx and skull base may also invade middle ear. Earache is deep swelling, throbbing or stabbing pain in the ear, which is obvious at night and not easy to be relieved. After the cancer destroys the sound transmitting structures, hearing loss may occur.
Those with right ear pain with hearing loss should actively seek medical treatment, undergo systematic examination to make a clear diagnosis, and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
