How to relieve biceps pain

Biceps pain is usually caused by lactic acid buildup, tendonitis of the long head of the biceps muscle, frozen shoulder and other factors, which can be treated in a targeted manner through general treatment, medication, physical therapy and surgery.
1. Lactic acid accumulation: Heavy physical labor, upper arm muscle exercise, etc., will cause lactic acid accumulation in the body, causing biceps pain. Generally no treatment is needed, it can be relieved on its own after rest, or localized hot compresses can be used to reduce the discomfort.
2. Biceps long head tendonitis: mostly due to acute trauma, mechanical strain and other factors, the main clinical manifestation of biceps pain, and night pain is obvious, can be alleviated after rest, and will be accompanied by joint stiffness, limited activities and other phenomena.
Attention should be paid to rest, avoid local cold; if necessary, temporary braking with a brace can be used. Patients can also take oral anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, celecoxib, etc. In addition, patients can also choose short-wave therapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy and other physical modalities to improve symptoms.
3. Frozen shoulder: it is caused by degenerative disease of shoulder joint and its surrounding soft tissues. At the early stage of the disease, patients only feel pain in the shoulder, accompanied by stiffness of the shoulder, and with the development of the disease, patients can also experience pain in the biceps, the surface of the flexor muscles of the forearm and other parts of the body.
Frozen shoulder is self-limiting, and most patients can recover on their own with a good prognosis. If necessary, patients can take oral ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium, etc. as prescribed by the doctor to reduce pain; or local injection of local anesthesia drugs (e.g., lidocaine, etc.) and glucocorticoid drugs (e.g., triamcinolone acetonide, etc.). If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment such as arthrotomy and release can be considered.
In addition, there are many other causes that can cause biceps pain, and it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to identify the cause of the disease and then carry out treatment as early as possible.
