Sweating has physiological and pathological points, physiological including environmental heat, clothes too thick, etc., pathological Chinese medicine belongs to the category of sweating, divided into spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the day, a little movement sweating aggravated) and night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, waking up sweating stops), can be treated by taking traditional Chinese medicine.
1. Physiological: hot environment, over-thick clothing, eating hot food, etc. Physiological sweating can be relieved by choosing a cool environment for rest, reducing activities, paying attention to sun protection, and eating more watermelon, green bean soup and other foods that reduce heat.
2. Pathologic
Self-sweating: manifested as sweating when waking up, sweating is aggravated when moving.
Damp-heat obstruction: manifested as spontaneous sweating, heartburn and bitterness in the mouth, chest and epigastric congestion, red tongue, yellow and greasy moss, and number of strings in the pulse, use gentian diarrhea liver soup.
Deficiency of the surface of Wei: manifesting as spontaneous sweating, easy to catch a cold, less colorful face, pale red tongue, thin white moss, fine pulse, use Yu Ping Feng San.
Ying-wei disharmony (a TCM disease mechanism, often manifested as superficial self-sweating): manifested as self-sweating, bad wind, headache, pale red tongue, thin white moss, floating pulse, use Gui Zhi Tang.
Night sweating: manifested as sweating during sleep, stopping after waking up.
Heart-blood deficiency: manifesting as night sweating, dizziness, pale face, pale lips and mouth, pale tongue, white moss, weak pulse, use Gui Spleen Tang.
Yin deficiency and fire exuberance: manifesting as night sweating, accompanied by five heartburns and heat, red tongue with little moss, and fine pulse; use Angelica Six-Huang Tang.
If excessive sweating is accompanied by appealing pathological phenomena, it should be treated under the guidance of doctor’s diagnosis and should not be self-medicated to avoid adverse reactions.
