How long does a pacemaker battery last?

The pacemaker consists of two main parts: 1) the pacemaker lead, to be implanted in the heart chambers, in the ear or in the ventricle; 2) the pacemaker generator, also called generator, divided into two parts, the microcomputer and the battery. The duration of battery power depends on the pacemaker size. Generally, for ordinary pacemakers, the manufacturer guarantees 6 years, and if non-patient problems occur for less than 6 years, the manufacturer is responsible for replacing one. If it is a patient factor, such as an increase in power consumption due to a higher patient threshold, the manufacturer may no longer address it. Pacemaker battery life also depends on patient use and is limited by the patient’s pacing ratio. If the patient has been working in a dual-chamber fashion and has a very high pacing ratio, the battery time may be shorter. If the patient has only intermittent sinus arrest, the life expectancy may be very long. It should be no less than 6 years as long as it is used normally.
