Earth bitter gall is mainly used to treat sore throat, mumps and other conditions.
It is the root of green ox gall of the plant of the family Fangji, with a bitter taste, and has the effect of relieving swelling and pain, clearing heat and removing toxins. It can be used to treat sore throat, mouth and tongue erosion, feverish cough and loss of voice, diphtheria, mumps, pain in the stomach and abdomen, carbuncle (a kind of poisonous sores, occurring on the surface of the body, limbs, internal organs of the acute suppurative disease), diarrhea, poisonous snake bites and other diseases.
Literature records that the bitter gall can be used to treat mumps by grinding vinegar and applying it to the affected area; it can be used for children’s diarrhea by slicing or powdering and swallowing; it can be used to treat diphtheria and sore throat by blowing it into the affected area with borax and ice chips, etc.; and it can be used to treat furuncles by applying it to the affected area with the powdered bitter gold basin and mixing it with vinegar.
It should be noted that people with weak spleen and stomach and without heat and toxicity should be cautious in taking Diquan. The use of traditional Chinese medicine should be guided by a professional physician, and should not be used on its own, in order to avoid adverse consequences.
