What to do with a high fever of 39.2

A high fever of 39.2°C usually requires a hospital visit to reduce the fever urgently and to treat the cause. The fever reduction method of choice is pharmacological or physical. The oral medications ibuprofen or acetaminophen can be given orally, and these oral medications start to work about half an hour after oral administration, and the fever reduction time can last for about 4 hours, usually requiring repeated administration. Consider intramuscular aminobarbital injections or anal indomethacin suppositories for fever reduction. It is important to note that the patient is prone to sweating and deficiency during fever reduction, so it is important to adequately rehydrate the fever, either with plenty of fluids or through the intravenous route. If the patient has a viral infection, aggressive antiviral medication should be given within 48 hours of the initial infection. If the patient has a bacterial infection, penicillin and cephalosporin antibiotics may be chosen for anti-infective treatment.
