Small bowel CT requires oral laxatives to be taken one day in advance to empty the intestinal contents in order to prevent the observation of intestinal lesions.
The small intestine is located in a special place, which cannot be reached by gastroscopy and colonoscopy. To determine whether there is any lesion in the small intestine, small intestine CT or small colonoscopy is required. CT examination of the small intestine needs to make the intestine clean, otherwise the examination results will be affected.
In addition to taking laxatives the day before the examination, CT of the small intestine is also required to take oral contrast agents on the day of the examination, so as to facilitate the clarification of the intestinal tract for lesions.
CT examination of small intestine is prohibited for patients with suspected intestinal obstruction and those who are allergic to contrast medium. Before and after the examination, it is necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions. If there is any discomfort, inform your doctor promptly.
