How soon can you get out of bed with a lumbar spine fracture

  Patients with lumbar spine fractures need to rest in bed, and if they heal well, they can wear a thoracolumbar brace and move around on the ground after 6-8 weeks.  Patients with lumbar compression fracture usually take conservative treatment, requiring strict bed rest for 6-8 weeks, sleeping on a hard bed, proper functional exercise of the lumbar back muscles, taking anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs and drugs to promote fracture healing, and regular review. If the fracture heals well, the patient can gradually get out of bed and walk after 6-8 weeks, but wear a lumbar girth and brace, gradually avoid excessive activities, and avoid bending activities for 3 months; patients with lumbar burst fracture need to undergo surgery, and rest is the main focus after surgery, and the time to get out of bed and walk can be gradually increased if the fracture heals well in about 6 weeks.  During bed rest, patients should do sputum evacuation training or have someone else assist in back patting to prevent pneumonia; drink more water and urinate more often to prevent urinary tract infection; eat lightly to prevent dry stools; turn regularly to prevent pressure sores.
