How long to treat compensated cirrhosis

There is no exact time for the treatment of compensated cirrhosis, which needs to be judged according to the patient’s own situation and the severity of the disease.
For patients in the compensated stage, treatment aims to delay the loss of liver function, prevent hepatocellular carcinoma, and strive for reversal. However, the cure rate of patients in the compensated stage is very low, and lifelong treatment is usually required.
Cirrhosis in the compensated stage requires comprehensive treatment, which can take some antiviral drugs, such as interferon and nucleotide analogs; some antifibrotic drugs, such as Fuzheng Huayu capsule and other proprietary Chinese medicines; and attention should also be paid to strengthening the nutrition, and give the patients low-salt and high-quality protein diet. Drugs should be used under the guidance of the doctor, not self-medication.
Although it is difficult to cure compensated cirrhosis, comprehensive treatment can slow down the progress of the disease and improve the prognosis of patients.
