How long does a person usually live with severe ascites in advanced cancer?

The five-year survival rate for patients with advanced cancer presenting with severe ascites is about 5% to 10% after treatment.
Cancer is a common malignant disease and the cause can be genetic, environmental and other factors. In advanced stages of the disease, ascites may occur due to abdominal metastasis, hypoproteinemia and other reasons.
In this period, patients can be treated with primary tumor and metastatic lesions, such as radiotherapy and targeted therapy. Symptomatic treatment can also be provided by taking diuretics such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide under doctor’s guidance, extracting ascites by peritoneal puncture, and injecting albumin intravenously to alleviate the symptoms.
After a series of active treatment, patients can obtain a five-year survival rate of about 5% to 10%. If the patient is in good health and tolerates the treatment well, the survival time may be somewhat prolonged.
Please strictly follow the doctor’s instructions for medication and do not self-medicate.
