How to read the laboratory test for hepatitis B carriers

The report card of hepatitis B carriers usually indicates that the liver function is normal, that is, the bilirubin and transaminases are normal and the hepatitis B surface antigen is positive. For such patients, no special treatment is needed, and a review every three months is sufficient. Of course, if the patient is older than thirty years old, has a family history of cirrhosis and liver cancer, and has a high hepatitis B DNA value, it is recommended to have a liver puncture. If the pathological results of the liver puncture suggest inflammation or fibrosis greater than grade II or above, there are also indications for antiviral treatment, and timely antiviral treatment is needed. For carriers, although some liver functions are normal, it does not mean that the absolute liver is free of inflammation.
