Infant choking on water with tracheal and pulmonary manifestations

If an infant chokes on a drink of water, the early symptoms are usually dominated by coughing. This is because if there is a foreign body in the airway, the body will cough to expel the foreign body outside the airway. However, the cough reflex of infants is generally weak, which can easily lead to the accumulation of water in the trachea and lungs, resulting in some airway obstruction, choking to a large amount of water, there will be breathing difficulties, serious lips or face, or even the whole body cyanosis, and serious central coma of hypoxia, need to be sent to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment. If inflammation occurs and thus pneumonia manifests itself, symptoms such as coughing, coughing up sputum and fever may appear.
