There is no cure for cirrhosis. Current treatments cannot reverse the cirrhosis that has already occurred, but can only improve liver function, slow down the further progression of cirrhosis and treat complications. 1. Improvement of liver function: including removal and alleviation of causative factors, protection of hepatocytes and so on. The common cause of liver cirrhosis in China is viral hepatitis, especially viral hepatitis B. For patients infected with hepatitis B virus, they need to take antiviral drugs. Commonly used drugs are entecavir, adefovir and so on. For patients with liver function injury, liver-protecting drugs can be used, and commonly used liver-protecting drugs include glutathione, polyene phosphatidylcholine, diammonium glycyrrhizinate and so on. 2. Treatment of complications: the most common complications of cirrhosis are ascites and esophageal varices. For cirrhotic patients with ascites, they need to limit salt and water, take diuretics, such as furosemide and spironolactone, and if there is a large amount of ascites, the ascites can be drained out through peritoneal puncture drainage. For esophageal varices, beta-blockers can be taken to lower portal pressure, such as propranolol. Alternatively, a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt can be performed to reduce portal pressure, or endoscopic ligation can be used to directly close the varices. Although there is no method to reverse cirrhosis, after regular standardized treatment, the progress of cirrhosis can be slowed down and liver cancer can be prevented. If you are suffering from cirrhosis, you must go to a regular hospital and let a professional doctor treat you, and avoid taking medication on your own.
