Rhinitis belongs to the category of “nasal stifling” in Chinese medicine. Acupuncture points for rhinitis in children are Yingxiang, fontanel, Baihui, and Quchai.
Yingxiang belongs to the hand yangming large intestine meridian. It is located on the face, next to the center point of the outer edge of the nose, in the nasolabial groove. It is mainly used for treating nasal congestion, crooked mouth, facial itching, and biliary ascariasis.
Bulbella is located in the head, 2 inches straight up from the center of the front hairline. It treats headache, dizziness, nasal abyss (mainly manifested as foul nasal discharge, the amount of which is too much to be wiped clean), etc.
Baihui is located on the head, 5 inches straight up from the center of the front hairline. It is mainly used for treating dementia, insomnia, forgetfulness, headache, vertigo, tinnitus, prolapse of anus, yin ting (prolapse of uterus or even out of vaginal opening in women), gastroptosis, renal prolapse, and so on.
Qucha is located on the head, 0.5 inch straight up from the center of the front hairline and 1.5 inch to the side. It is mainly used for treating headache, dizziness, nasal congestion and epistaxis (nosebleed).
