Bilateral carotid atherosclerosis with plaque formation is a type of atherosclerosis, which is associated with hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and genetic factors.
Atherosclerosis refers to the hardening of the arterial wall and the deposition of yellow atherogenic lipids in the lining of the arteries. Bilateral carotid atherosclerosis with plaque formation refers to the bilateral carotid artery artery wall thickening and hardening, and the distribution of plaque on the intima, this plaque is usually lipid deposition of yellow atherosclerotic plaque, i.e. bilateral carotid atherosclerosis.
After atherosclerosis occurs, blood vessels will gradually narrow or even block, so that the organs supplied with blood will have corresponding symptoms of ischemia. Bilateral carotid atherosclerosis will cause insufficient blood supply to the brain, resulting in dizziness, headache and other symptoms.
Bilateral carotid atherosclerosis with plaque formation is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examination and early treatment to avoid aggravation of the condition.
