Cholera can cause abdominal pain, but the typical symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, and “slop-like” stools, and abdominal pain may not be obvious.
Diarrhea and vomiting may lead to gastrointestinal spasm and abdominal wall muscle spasm, which may cause abdominal pain.
1. Diarrhea: the number of bowel movements can reach dozens of times, and even bowel incontinence.
2. Vomiting: mostly jet-like, the vomit is mostly stomach contents, and in severe cases, “rice-slop-like” liquid can be vomited.
3. Stool “rice-slop-like”: typical stools are “rice-slop-like”, or “meat-wash-like”.
4. Other symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting will lead to a large loss of body fluids and electrolytes, symptoms of dehydration.
Other causes of abdominal pain include exposure to cold, eating irritating foods, infectious enteritis, non-infectious enteritis, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal masses and other causes.
For the diagnosis of abdominal pain, it is recommended to visit a doctor to clarify whether it is caused by cholera.
