In our work, we often encounter patients’ families asking us how to treat tumors. We deeply appreciate that many families are fooled by irresponsible and money-cheating advertisements, so it is very necessary to introduce the systematic and formal treatment of tumors. From the current medical level, there are several methods to treat tumor: surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy, Chinese herbal medicine, heat therapy, laser, freezing and so on. Among them, the most effective and economical methods are still the first three, the most direct evidence of which is the setting and scale of oncology hospital departments all over the world, while other treatment methods are adjuvant treatments. Each treatment method has its indications, and each tumor may have different treatment methods in different stages. The main method for benign tumors is surgery; for non-solid and systemic malignant tumors (e.g. leukemia, lymphoma), the main method is chemotherapy; for all early solid malignant tumors and low-grade malignant tumors (e.g. thyroid differentiated carcinoma, etc.), the main method is surgery; of course, early solid tumors sensitive to radiotherapy can be treated with radiotherapy alone; radiotherapy and surgery are mainly local treatment, so for advanced malignant tumors with extensive metastases, radiotherapy and surgery are adjuvant treatment; for intermediate stage malignant tumors, radiotherapy and surgery are adjuvant treatment. Therefore, for advanced malignant tumors with extensive metastasis, radiotherapy and surgery are adjuvant treatments; for intermediate malignant tumors, surgery is still the main method for those who are not easily metastasized by blood; for malignant tumors with special location (such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma), surgery has no advantages (efficacy cannot be improved, more sequelae and higher risks), and radiotherapy is the main treatment method; all other treatments should be integrated according to the situation. Biological therapy (including gene therapy), Chinese herbal medicine and heat therapy are all supplementary treatments to the above three methods and can only be used as adjuvant treatment. At present, the market over-promotion of X knife, gamma knife are part of radiotherapy, must not exaggerate its efficacy! Individuals put the cart before the horse, disdain for the three major treatment methods, the adjuvant treatment methods are appreciated, over-exaggerating their efficacy, is really harmful to people and their own behavior!
