With the improvement of living standard, more and more people pay attention to their “face project”, not only the beautiful face, but also the head of hair is becoming our focus. And due to work pressure, irregular lifestyle, family genetics and many other reasons, more and more people are losing their hair. Today we will talk to you about how to prevent and control hair loss.
About hair that thing
Hair, as the name implies, is the hair that grows on our head. Although hair is not an organ, each individual hair follicle is a unit with its own independent “biological clock”, and hair growth, aging and shedding have their own schedule.
The number of hair follicles in the head of an adult is around 100,000 and does not increase in adulthood. Generally, one or more hairs may grow in one follicle. The number and density of hair follicles are highly genetically related. Hair grows roughly about 1cm a month, while the normal number of hair loss is about 70-100 a day. Women prefer to have long hair, so hair loss may seem particularly noticeable.
The growth cycle of hair is longer compared to other parts of the body (eyebrows, eyelashes, armpit hair, etc.) and generally consists of a continuous cycle of anagen phase – regression phase – resting phase – anagen phase again.
The anagen phase: i.e. the part of the hair visible to the naked eye, generally 2-6 years, accounting for more than 80% of the total number of hairs.
Degenerative phase: generally three weeks, accounting for about 1-5% of the total number of hairs, during which the hair gradually “ages”.
The resting phase: generally three months, accounting for about 10% of the total number of hairs. During this period, hair is gradually shed and the hair follicles rest and prepare to enter the next cycle.
As we age, hair decreases during the anagen phase and increases during the regressive and resting phases, especially in men.
What are the common hair loss diseases
Common hair loss disorders include: androgenetic alopecia, baldness, syphilitic alopecia, scarring alopecia, resting alopecia, pseudobulbar baldness, etc.; of which androgenetic alopecia and baldness account for 90% of hair loss.
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss, also known as seborrheic alopecia, male pattern baldness, etc. The prevalence rate in China is 21.3% for men and 6.0% for women. It is mainly caused by genetic factors and androgenic factors. If someone in the family has androgenetic alopecia, the prevalence of the offspring will be greatly increased.
Alopecia areata, on the other hand, is a sudden, limited hair loss with normal skin, no inflammation, smooth surface, and patchy hair loss that can last for months or years. Most of them can be regenerated and are commonly known as “ghost shaving”.
In severe cases, the entire head hair falls out rapidly, which is called total baldness.
What are the causes of hair loss?
1.Spiritual factors.
Under the effect of mental stress, the human hair standing muscle contracts, hair stands erect, the plant nerve or central nervous function is disturbed, hair follicles hair papillae undergo big changes and malnutrition, which leads to the inhibition of hair growth function, hair enters the resting phase and hair loss occurs.
2.Drug factors.
There are some chemotherapeutic drugs, cyclophosphamide, fluorouracil, bleomycin, actinomycin D, vincristine, colchicine, trichothecene alkaloids, and aconitine, etc. can cause hair loss. Arsenic agents, metal thallium, selenium and other poisoning can also cause severe hair loss.
3.Nutritional factors.
The reduction of nutritional intake in food can retard hair production; if the protein content in food is reduced, even if the total amount of food is normal, hair growth can be inhibited; low-fat or no-fat can cause baldness, while excessive intake of fat can cause excessive hypertrophy of the sebaceous glands and hyperfunction, affecting hair growth.
4. Autoimmune factors.
The relevant data shows that hair loss has a lot to do with autoimmune factors. Some studies believe that autoimmunity plays a role in the development of baldness, with T-cell infiltration in the lower part of the hair follicle at the baldness site, and autoantibodies such as anti-thyroid and anti-gastric wall cell antibodies can be detected in the serum of some patients.
Hair care routine
Normal hair also needs our careful care in order to grow healthy and less hair loss. And the hair that has occurred hair loss disease, also need special care.

Therefore, it is important to ensure a balanced diet, especially for women to avoid excessive dieting in order to maintain their body shape, while men avoid consuming large amounts of high-fat and high-sugar foods. Daily supplementation of calcium, iron and other trace elements is recommended.
2, good sleep, proper exercise.
Sleep enough to ensure that the body’s immune system balance, normal metabolic operation. Long-term late night, poor sleep quality will affect the body’s endocrine and other aspects of function, thus affecting the growth of hair, resulting in massive hair loss. Exercise can promote the body’s metabolism, hair health also has a role in promoting.
3, keep a happy mood, pay attention to reduce stress life work.
Modern people work under a lot of pressure, especially young people often work overtime, stay up late, easy to produce depression, mental anxiety, tension and other subhealth states.
