Is a two-hour postprandial glucose of 8 insulin resistant?

A two-hour postprandial glucose of 8 mmol/L is not necessarily insulin resistance, but may also be insufficient insulin secretion. Currently, the common domestic classification standard for glucose metabolic state is considered to be in a state of impaired glucose tolerance if the 2-hour venous plasma glucose in the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is 7.8~11.1mmol/L. However, there are strict preparation requirements for the OGTT, which needs to be performed without any calorie intake for 8 hours and on an empty stomach in the early morning, as well as the preparation of the glucose to be taken and the time of drinking. If it is necessary to determine the existence of insulin resistance, insulin release test should be performed to detect insulin secretion. In the presence of high blood glucose, it is recommended to actively seek medical attention and follow the doctor’s instructions for diagnosis and treatment.
