The most reliable way to diagnose cervical cancer

The most reliable way to confirm a diagnosis of cervical cancer is a biopsy of the cervix. During pre-cancer screening of the cervix, which is also known as liquid-based cytology, precancerous lesions of the cervix appear, and if they are low-grade lesions with HPV infection, colposcopy and liquid-based cytology are needed, and if the report is a high-grade cervical lesion, colposcopy must be done at this time. Through the observation of colposcopy, biopsy is taken from the lesion, and then pathology is done. The diagnostic result of the pathology is the gold standard. If the pathology result is cervical cancer, the diagnosis is confirmed. Depending on the extent of the lesion and the individual patient’s condition, a plan for the next step in the treatment needed will be made.
