The effects of red ginseng include tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the body’s root energy), restoring the pulse and fixing the loss (restoring the normal pulse and preventing the loss of substance), tonifying the lungs and the spleen, benefiting the qi and taking in the blood (preventing hemorrhage by means of tonifying the qi), etc. It is mainly used in the treatment of serious illnesses, deficiency after hemorrhage following a prolonged illness, shortness of breath and insufficiency of the spleen qi.
Red ginseng is the dried root and rhizome of ginseng after being steamed. It is sweet, slightly bitter in taste and warm in nature, and it can tranquilize the spirit and benefit the intellect (to stabilize the mind and promote intellectual development), tonify the vital energy, restore the veins and solidify the loss of vital energy, tonify the spleen and benefit the lungs (to tonify the spleen and lungs), and promote the production of body fluid, and other effects.
