Heart failure patients with blood in the stool may be the emergence of gastrointestinal edema, ulcer bleeding, but also hemorrhoids, anal fissure and other diseases, and may be caused by drugs, such as long-term application of anti-platelet aggregation drugs or anticoagulant drugs. It is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible to clarify the cause.
Heart failure patients are prone to gastrointestinal bleeding, mainly due to two reasons.
1. The digestive tract itself. The presence of heart failure, especially total heart failure or right heart failure, peripheral circulatory stasis, digestive tract stasis and swelling, which can lead to dyspepsia, intestinal mucosal edema, prone to gastrointestinal mucosal erosion, ulceration, manifested as bleeding. Some gastrointestinal diseases, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissure, gastrointestinal tumors, etc., may also lead to blood in the stool.
2. Most patients with heart failure have a history of coronary artery disease or accompanying atrial fibrillation. These diseases require long-term application of antiplatelet aggregation drugs or anticoagulants, such as aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin and so on. And the application of these drugs is prone to increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
Gastrointestinal bleeding is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible, on the one hand, to find out the cause, if it is caused by drugs, to stop as soon as possible, on the other hand, the application of antiemetic drugs to treat excessive blood loss, the need for blood transfusion.
