What’s wrong with a healed broken toe that won’t bend?

A toe fracture is a very small fracture for a whole body fracture, yet many patients experience inability to bend their toes after the toe fracture has healed. This is mainly due to the fact that the patient did not perform proper functional exercises during the fracture. In traditional medicine, after strong external or internal fixation of a toe fracture, patients are not encouraged to do proper bending of the toes during the fracture. With the development of modern medicine, patients are increasingly encouraged to perform appropriate functional exercises, such as static muscle contraction training or joint flexion training, during the fracture. Early functional exercise intervention will prevent joint stiffness, joint ankylosis after fracture healing, and inability to bend the toes.
