Recurrence of primary liver cancer in adults is the reappearance of the cancer in the liver or elsewhere in the body after it has been cured.
Treatment of primary liver cancer in adults after recurrence includes:
- Total hepatectomy or liver transplantation;
- partial hepatectomy;
- ablation therapy;
- hepatic artery chemoembolization and sorafenib-targeted therapy, and palliative care as a complement (with the primary goal of symptom relief and quality of life);
- Participation in clinical trials of new treatments.
