CT diagnostic criteria for adrenal gland thickening, mainly compared with the posterior peritoneum, if it is thicker than the posterior peritoneum, it can generally be judged as adrenal gland thickening, in the presence of adrenal gland with thickening on CT examination, attention should be paid to find the cause. The coarsening of the adrenal glands suggests the possibility of adrenal hyperplasia, and it is recommended that adrenal function tests be performed. If the adrenal function test results are normal and only the adrenal glands are thickened, usually no special treatment is needed, and the test can be repeated in about three months. If the adrenal function is abnormal, the disease will be diagnosed based on the specific results. If the thickened adrenal gland mainly secretes glucocorticoids, Cushing’s syndrome with excess glucocorticoids can occur; if the thickened adrenal gland mainly secretes medullary hormones, that is, increased secretion of catecholamines, including epinephrine and norepinephrine, symptoms similar to those of pheochromocytoma can occur. It is recommended that patients with adrenal hyperplasia should undergo relevant examinations under the guidance of a doctor, and be treated actively after a clear diagnosis.
