Indications and Contraindications for Liver Transplantation

All patients with incurable end-stage liver disease and those who cannot avoid death in the short term are indications for liver transplantation. Indications for liver transplantation include patients with chronic liver disease, end-stage liver disease, fulminant liver failure, liver tumors, congenital liver disease, and the need for another liver transplant. Contraindications for liver transplantation are tumors other than hepatobiliary, i.e., patients with severe systemic infections, brain, heart, kidney and other vital organ insufficiency and vital organ failure, and patients with psychiatric disorders are also not suitable for liver transplantation.
