The generic name for Fen-Phen is Ibuprofen, and you should not take Ibuprofen until usually 24 to 72 hours after drinking beer. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug used primarily for the relief of mild to moderate pain such as headaches and arthralgia, but also for fever caused by the common cold or influenza. If used concurrently with alcohol, it may increase the risk of symptoms of gastrointestinal distress and liver impairment. Therefore, patients are advised to take ibuprofen after the alcohol has been metabolized. Normally, alcohol can be metabolized in 24 to 72 hours, so ibuprofen should not be taken until 24 to 72 hours after drinking beer usually. This product is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to this product and other NSAIDs, pregnant and lactating women, patients with asthma who are allergic to aspirin, patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency or those with severe heart failure, patients with a history of previous upper gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation associated with NSAID therapy, patients with active or previous history of peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, and so on. Patients are advised to use ibuprofen under the supervision of a physician and should not use it privately.
