Mingmu Di Huang Wan has the effect of nourishing yin and brightening the eyes (nourishing the yin fluid and brightening the eyes), and it is effective in treating macular edema of the liver and kidney yin deficiency (deficiency of yin fluid in the liver and kidneys) type. Mingmu Di Huang Wan is composed of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Poria, Rhizoma Zedoariae, Fructus Lycii and other medicines, which is effective in nourishing yin and tonifying the kidneys (nourishing yin and kidney fluids to tonify the kidneys), nourishing the liver and brightening the eyes (nourishing the liver and brightening eyes). It can be used clinically to treat symptoms such as blurred vision, dry eyes, tearing in the wind, lumbar and knee soreness (a feeling of soreness and weakness in the waist and knees), hot flashes (a burst of heat), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up), and so on, which are caused by yin deficiency of the liver and kidney (a deficiency of yin fluid in the liver and kidney). Macular edema refers to thickening of the retina with edema in the macular area, and patients may manifest blurred vision, distorted vision and other symptoms. Mingmu Di Huang Wan is effective in treating macular edema of the liver and kidney yin deficiency (insufficiency of yin and fluid in the liver and kidney) type, but it does not have therapeutic effect on patients with other types of symptoms.
