Pituitary tumors are not usually caused after thyroid surgery. The cause of pituitary tumors is not fully understood and may be related to disorders of the hypothalamus regulating hormones, gene mutations, and familial inheritance. With thyroid surgery, common complications are postoperative bleeding, nerve damage, hand and foot twitching, and tracheal collapse. There have been no clinical cases of pituitary tumors caused by thyroid surgery. Pituitary tumor may cause pituitary hormone secretion disorders, and then thyroid hormone disorders, such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, so pituitary tumor may cause thyroid disease, while thyroid surgery will not cause pituitary tumor. If a pituitary tumor is detected, it should be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
