Forearm fractures include radius fractures, ulnar fractures and humerus fractures. It generally takes about 2 months for upper extremity fractures to heal, but the healing time varies due to individual differences, and fracture healing is assessed by X-ray or CT. For fractures of the wrist in the elderly, removal of the cast takes about 1-1.5 months after fixation, and fractures of the middle part of the ulna and radius require about 1 month of fixation, depending on the individual. In addition, the time of fixation of elbow fracture of the upper limb needs to be decided according to the degree of fracture comminution, the specific location of the fracture, the number of bones involved, and the displacement of the bones; too long a cast fixation time is not conducive to the recovery of the elbow joint. If the cast is fixed for 1 month, it will take at least 3 months to fully restore the extension and flexion of the elbow joint. If the cast is fixed for 2 months, it will take half a year to fully recover. Therefore, the shorter the cast fixation time after elbow fracture, the better, and the cast fixation time should be evaluated by a specialist in a hospital, generally not more than 2 months, more than 2 months will have a greater impact on the functional recovery of the elbow joint.
