Blepharoplasty does not cause blindness, but it can cause dry eye. Blepharospasm is a common ophthalmologic manifestation, usually caused by atrophy of the glands due to aging factors or chronic inflammatory irritation of the eye, etc. The severity of blepharospasm can be seen when examined with an ocular surface analyzer. Lack of blepharoplasty will affect the function of tear secretion, resulting in insufficient tear secretion, especially the reduction of the lipid content of tears, which will cause the evaporation of tears to accelerate, causing patients to experience symptoms such as dry eyes, foreign body sensation, tingling, etc. However, it does not usually affect the patient’s eyesight, so it does not cause blindness in general.
