How to Recover from a Knee Injury

Recovery from knee injury can be done through general treatment, medication, surgery and functional exercises according to the degree of injury.

1. General treatment: first of all, braking is needed to avoid secondary damage to the knee, mild injuries generally rest, no more strenuous exercise, severe injuries may require bed rest for 4~6 weeks.

2. Medication: If the pain is severe, analgesic drugs such as ibuprofen and celecoxib can be given under the guidance of the doctor.

3. Surgery: If there is a ligament rupture or fracture, surgery may be needed, such as ligament repair or fracture incision and internal fixation.

4. Functional exercise: If the injury is serious, it is necessary to carry out the necessary functional exercise while maintaining sufficient braking time, at first, it is feasible to carry out muscle active contraction exercise to prevent muscle atrophy. In the later stage, passive knee flexion and extension exercises can be carried out with the help of others to restore the mobility of the knee joint.

Knee injuries should be timely to the hospital, complete the relevant examination, to determine the severity of the injury, in accordance with the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment, so as to avoid delays in the condition.
