Robotic pancreatic surgery tops the nation

On the morning of November 25, the 300th da Vinci robot-assisted pancreatic surgery at Ruijin Hospital was performed by Professor Peng Chenghong, Director of General Surgery. A 40-year-old patient, Cai, came to the hospital with a self-conscious yellow sclera staining of the skin, and was considered to have a malignant tumor of the head of the pancreas after a multidisciplinary consultation (MDT) discussion. The whole operation took 4 hours from the time the robot was installed to the time the puncture hole was closed, and the intraoperative bleeding was only 50ml. Pancreatic surgery is one of the “high, precise and advanced” in general surgery, which is difficult and risky. Since the introduction of the world’s most advanced da Vinci robotic surgery system in March 2010, our general surgery department has completed more than 500 cases of hepatobiliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal retroperitoneal surgery, of which robotic pancreatic surgery has exceeded 300 cases so far, ranking the top in China and the best in the world. The pancreatic surgery team led by Prof. Peng has completed 3~5 cases of pancreatic surgery daily, and 4~5 cases of robotic pancreatic surgery are completed steadily every week. Among the 300 robotic pancreatic surgeries, there are nearly 100 cases of pancreaticoduodenectomy, which is known to be the most complex, nearly 20 cases of resection of pancreatic head tumor with preservation of duodenum, and more than 100 cases of resection of pancreatic body tail, of which more than 50 cases of middle pancreatic resection are the largest sample size reported in the world so far.
